Lissen…times have been heavy, and my soul was craving a laugh. Last night, I checked out fellow Maryland girl Yvonne Orji’s standup special on HBO and it did the trick for me! For those that don’t know her, she plays the bestie of Issa Rae on the show #Insecure.
In real life, she’s a Nigerian-American who spent a good part of her life right here in Maryland (and she gives Laurel a shout-out!).. She talks about growing up with Nigerian parents and about the struggle between your parents’ desires for you and persuing your dreams. Highly relatable, very funny, and so inspiring seeing that #blackgirlmagic.
